The Australian Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology Association (ARATA) is a national association whose purpose is to serve as a forum for information sharing and liaison between people who are involved with the use, prescription, customisation, supply and ongoing support of assistive technology. Since its formation in the mid-90s, ARATA has hosted a number of AT focussed events including a biennial conference that was renamed the Australian AT Conference (AATC) in 2016.
The third Australian AT Conference (AATC) will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre from the 24 – 25 November 2022. The theme for this two-day conference is “ActivATe Life”.
Assistive Technology solutions are essential enablers in everyday life and becoming increasingly important to all people with an interest in health, disability, aged care, education, and employment services. Sharing our knowledge is an important part of the ARATA mission, and our biennial conference provides us with the perfect platform to do this.
The conference program will include a range of presentations featuring people who use Assistive Technologies in their daily lives, as well as people who are passionate about promoting the effective design, selection, and use of Assistive Technology solutions.
Assistive Technology users, practitioners, suppliers, researchers, educators, and others are invited to submit a paper for consideration. Presentations may relate to specific technologies (e.g., aids for daily living), wheeled mobility, AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), design and environmental modifications, telehealth, smart technologies, and cognitive supports, or domains of participation (e.g., community living, education, communication, employment). They may also address issues of design, research, policy, and practice.
Presentation submissions are now open!

The Conference will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC). The ACC is conveniently located in the heart of the city centre and nestled within the beauty of the Riverbank Precinct, just 15 minutes’ drive from Adelaide Airport.
The Adelaide Riverbank Precinct is a hive of activity and where the city’s cultural, sporting, education, medical, conference and entertainment zones merge, making it Australia’s best connected business events precinct. It is also a short walk to international and boutique hotels and accommodation. Public transport, the Adelaide Railway Station and taxi ramps are also at the Centre’s doorstep. For more information, please visit the Adelaide Convention Centre website.
This Conference offers an exceptional chance to showcase your products to an anticipated 300 in-person delegates while also demonstrating your level of support and commitment to the industry.
We hope that you will join us in Adelaide in 2022!
